Beverly R. James RN, BSN Instructor
Ms. James attended Adelphi University and Downstate Medical School where she became a Nurse Practitioner. Beverly is a retired RN who specialized in Home Health Care. Ms. James learned early on her passion was not in the rushed clinical setting but in directly interacting with patients in their environment and helping them to optimize their health status through education and advocacy. After spending years as a public health nurse, Ms. James cofounded Long Island Care at Home a licensed home care agency, where her philosophy and approach could be more readily implemented. She is a certified Family Patient Advocate and has participated in presenting the Family Advocacy Training Course. She has always been a pioneer and not shy about her advocacy for patients and their ability to navigate our complex health system. Providing workshops for Pulse led her to the ASK For Your Life program where she continues to engage people, particularly African-Americans, whenever and wherever she can to help them achieve equity and parity in receiving the best health care available to them.
